LA ARCHITECTURE

Some travel inspiration…

This summer we made our first big road trip and chose to discover the American West coast. One ofΒ  many stops was Los Angeles. To me, a very special and different city from New York and San Francisco for example. However the architecture in LA is just amazing. Let me show you three places you must visit when in the city of stars.

First thing first, and that’s exactly what we did, is the Getty Center designed by Richard Meier. The building itself is worth a visit but the permanent and temporary collections as well. The museum is too big to see everything so try to find out what’s most interesting for you. The view from the terraces is also amazing!

Next is the Eames house, the house of Charles and Ray Eames itself. Covered between the trees on the hills of LA, this house is so worth a visit. Make sure to make an appointment by mail at least a few days or weeks before you plan your visit. Unfortunately the interior is not possible to visit, except if you’re willing to pay quite a lot.

Last one, and my favourite, is the Hollyhock House by Frank Lloyd Wright. This villa has recently been renovated and it’s not allowed to take pictures inside. The guides are the most friendly people and this house is the most beautiful I’ve ever visited, ever! An appointment is not necessary but we had a short introduction by a guide which is very interesting to have before you enter the house.

I’m still dreaming about those American days, stay tuned for more about my USA trip πŸ™‚
